Niagara NY Trip and Haul

This past weekend we went to Niagara Falls, New York, for my cousin’s birthday. I’ve been to Niagara Falls plenty of times in Ontario, Canada, but this time was my first going to Niagara in the States. The shopping is definitely a lot cheaper over there. It’s crazy when we compare the retail markups in the US vs CA. With that said, I didn’t go too crazy with shopping because I just didn’t want to come home with a bunch of crap I bought just because it was cheaper.

The first day we hit up Walden Galleria and had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. We ordered a few items to share off their $ 5 dollar appetizer menu. All of the items were very good and tasty. We also ordered two lunch entrees but they were too salty and not very enjoyable. Before we left, we picked up some cheesecake for the hotel and home. The pumpkin cheesecake was delish but tasted like one I made for Thanksgiving so I wish I tried another flavor instead. Next time!

After lunch it was time for shopping. From Sephora I got the Sephora's Favorites Lashstash (2011) and NARS Danmari Cheek Palette. My search for the Danmari has finally come to an end. This thing was completely sold out in the GTA! After checking out, the store gave me a VIB 10% off your next purchase coupon, which I gave to one of the other girls. If only I knew, I would have split my purchase but the ladies at the counter totally remembered my face so I decided to pass the savings on instead. I now have enough mascara and blush for the next year so ideally I won’t be hauling and posting anymore cheeks and mascara hauls … But we’ll see ;]

I was extremely, extremely, tempted to buy the Donmar Collection by Nails Inc. The flakey holographic effects polishes are so cool! I didn’t end up getting it because I didn’t want the Plum Black Chelsea Polish, and they don’t sell the Donmar Overglaze Top Coat separately. If anybody knows a dupe for the Donmar Overglaze Top Coat please let me know! I am dying to get my hands on it!

My biggest and happiest purchase this trip would have to be my Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Natasha bag in black. I’ve been eyeing this bad boy for 2 years now and finally got her on this trip. I saved money right off the bat because of the retail price and taxes, but one of the girls also qualified for the department store credit card so we got an additional 15% off our purchase. I am a very happy camper.

A few items from Forever21, Bakers Shoes, and Under Armour (UA @ Fashion Outlet Mall on day 2) topped off my haul. All in all the shopping, slot machines, free drinks, late nights, and good company made this weekend trip a good one.

Do you go cross border shopping often? How do you feel about Black Friday and are you planning to go shopping this weekend?
